Future Mechanic

Jack received a Tonka truck for Christmas from my parents, and initially he was fascinated with pushing it around the room -- first on his knees and now, stumbling, on his feet.

Recently, however, he has become more interested in tipping it over. He does this by sitting down behind it and using the handle to rock it from side to side until it tips. Then he examines the underside of the truck, spinning the wheels, poking at the flaps that pick up toys. I think it's amazing that he is already interested in how things work. Sixteen years from now, I expect he'll be poking around the inside of his first car, but for now he'll have to practice on his Tonka.
