"I Can Feed Myself"

Yesterday we bought a dish and silverware set at Meijer, thinking that Jack might enjoy eating off a plate instead of his tray. The plate, supposedly with a suction cup base, was a complete bust, easily pulled off by a smarter-than-Gerber toddler. The silverware, on the other hand, was an unanticipated success. Jack had shown no interest in learning to feed himself. Usually when I'd hand him a baby spoon, he'd end up holding the spoon end, instead of the handle, which was always a complete mess. With this spoon, however, he has a thick rubber grip to hang on to, and now he is eager to try feeding himself. Still messy, but much more enjoyable for all involved.
