It's A Zoo Out There
Today we took Jack to Potter Park Zoo in Lansing. It's a small zoo, but the perfect size for our monkey-boy to experience all the animals without having a meltdown. We started off at the food court and grabbed a soft-serve cone to help us power on through. Then we hit the otters and the Arctic foxes. The foxes were a bit shy, but Jack seemed to like the otters. Then we visited the petting zoo - a definite highlight of the trip. Jack enjoyed petting the goats and seeing the chicks. He also seemed to like the ostrich as well. As long as we could get Jack to focus on the animals he was engaged, but he also seemed pretty easily distracted by all the other people there too. We hit all the other high points - penguins, monkeys, reptile house (though Mommy abstained from that excursion) - and seemed to really enjoy the turtles swimming in the water and the Pallas cat, primarily because it resembled Tucker. By the time we got to the camels, his day was close to being done. We gave him a quick meal of peas near the otter tank and then headed home. Less than five minutes in, he was out cold - a sign of a good day in Jack's world.
