Big Boy

Today Ben and I went to the birth center for our two week appointment. This was a momentous occasion for us because it was my first time driving since surgery and his first time at the birth center. Of course, this meant there was a winter weather advisory out and a good inch or two of snow on the roads when I left -- nothing like a snowstorm with a newborn in the car.

Luckily, we got there and back safely, and Ben made quite an impression as a record-setting weight-gainer in two-weeks time. He weighed 9 lbs. 10.5 oz. today, with his t-shirt and diaper, which means he probably weighs around 9 lbs. 6 oz. No wonder his newborn outfits aren't fitting! Clarice, one of the midwives, commented that I must be lactating Haggen Daas. After all the issues with Jack not eating well and worrying about him being so little, it's nice to have a baby on the opposite end of the spectrum -- Ben has been eating very well, as evidenced by his nearly 2 lb. gain.

Here's a couple pictures of our star eater after his bath this morning, dressed in 3 month clothes already:
