Fair Day

This morning we met Jack's friend Kaitlyn (and her mom and baby brother, Kole) at the Ingham County Fair so that we could see the animals and eat some disgustingly delicious fair food. We had a special interest in the fair this year, since our neighbor boy, Ethan, is showing his pig there. Jack was especially keen on seeing Ethan's pig. Ben, as always, was content to go where ever the rest of us did as long as his mommy was nearby and he could eat and nap at will.

The kids liked seeing the animals, although Jack was a little hesitant to pet them this year. He happily munched on his first corn dog (oh, how fall I've fallen from the strict all organic, no-hotdog rules of his early years) and shared a lemonade and fries with me. Then, Kaitlyn decided she wanted to ride a pony, so Jack, who had reservations about the whole thing, gamely decided to do the same, just to impress his favorite girl. Jack looked terrified the whole time and ended his ride early ("Mommy, I all done."), but Kaitlyn bravely rode her pony all by herself for the whole time.

And the best part of the whole trip: both boys fell asleep in the car before we even got out of downtown Mason.
