Today I took Jack to his two-year appointment with Dr. Josh, our pediatrician. In the car on the way there, I updated him about what to expect -- I told him that Dr. Josh would look at his eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and belly (Jack pointed to each) and that he would probably get a couple pokes but he'd get bandaids for them (Jack's current favorite thing in the world is bandaids).
So when we got there, Jack was already talking about Dr. Josh. He was extra brave and stood on the scale by himself (24 lbs. 2 oz. -- 7th percentile for weight). He also didn't even flinch when they pricked his toe for the hemoglobin test. When Dr. Josh came in, Jack said "Doctor Josh" and smiled. Then he showed him his hands, his nose, his belly, etc. :) So cute. Dr. Josh was understandably impressed. He said Jack is doing great developmentally and can switch to 2% milk and to chewable vitamins now.
Then came the shots. Jack was very brave, but they definitely hurt because he cried in surprise and outrage. But he was quickly calmed by the sight of his new bandaids and the stickers that the nurse gave him. By the time we left, he was smiling again and said "Bye-bye, Nemo!" to the fish in the lobby.
