Jack's First Trip

This weekend, Brian, Jackson and I drove to Ohio to visit Brian's family. We were a little nervous because this was the first overnight trip we've made, as well as the farthest we've driven. However, we should have known that our sweet baby would be a trouper. He slept most of the way, waking only to have a quick feeding at the halfway point. We were so proud of him and relieved that he travels so well.
While we were in Dayton, we got to watch Julie play mud volleyball (I'd love to have a picture to post here because she was a mess, but I sadly forgot my camera when we went to the tournament) and we visited with Kelly and Ryan who hadn't seen Jack since he was born. Kelly made an adorable cake for him with blocks and a rattle.

On Sunday, we introduced him to the extended Cardosi clan, who were unable to put him down for an instant. His great-grandparents were especially excited to see him, as well as Aunt Sally, who would have taken him home with her if we had let her. It was nice to be able to take a picture of the four generations of men in his family, as well.

During our downtime, Jackson enjoyed being held by his grandparents and Aunt Julie, who always seems to bring out his playful side, which is delightful to watch. Brian and I joked that we wouldn't be seeing him all weekend, and although that wasn't quite true, it came pretty close.

It was hard to say goodbye to everyone, but we'll be seeing them again soon for Jack's baptism on August 31. His Aunt Kelly and Uncle Ryan have agreed to be his godparents, and we're happy that he seems to love them so much. He thinks his Uncle Ryan is the funniest guy ever, and he's comfortable enough with his Aunt Kelly to accidentally poo on her shirt -- a sure sign that he likes someone, since he's done it to his parents so much.

All in all, it was a very nice weekend, but somewhat exhausting as the picture of Jack and Brian after we got home will attest.
