On Sunday, we drove to Greenville to celebrate my dad's family's Christmas party. Jack slept the whole way there (over an hour) and woke up refreshed and ready to play. He loved being surrounded by other little people (my cousins' children) and was especially enchanted by Clara, the daughter of a close family friend from Korea.
Jack had his first experience with presents, too. He sat on my cousin Meagan's lap and happily ripped paper off anything we put in front of him. Of course, Meagan had to be quick about getting the paper away from him once he ripped it off the box because it inevitably ended up in his mouth. Once he was done with his own presents, he moved on to Meagan's and probably could have ripped paper all afternoon.
I am excited to see how Jack handles Christmas Eve and Christmas Day... He doesn't seem as overwhelmed by large groups of people as he has in the past, which is very exciting to see (although that may be due to my cousin Mark's large house, which allowed people to spread out over three different rooms without feeling crowded). Jack also seems to have gotten the hang of opening presents, so I'm curious if he'll head straight for the Christmas tree once he's set loose at his grandparents' houses. One thing I'm sure of is that Santa will be very good to Jack.
