Operation Binky-No-More

Today we began the Great Binky Removal of 2011. After a month of forewarning Jack that once he was three he wouldn't need a binky anymore, we packed up his binkies and took them to the infant room at daycare to donate them to the babies there. Hoping that the loss of the binkies would be assuaged by all the birthday hoopla, we kept our fingers crossed for bedtime tonight. Things were already a little shaky due to too much sugar, not enough nap, and too much excitement, so it was not surprising when Jack tearfully demanded a binky about an hour after going to bed. After lots of cuddles and reminders that there are so many good things about being three that will make up for not having a binky, he finally fell asleep. Pray for us (and him!) that he makes it through the rest of the night.
