Then it was time to open gifts. Jack loved the medical kit my grandma got him after seeing him use his drill and screwdriver to play doctor on his doll. And we all loved the puppets my mom knitted -- a kitty, a turtle, a bear and a dog. So cute! Jack also got an apron, some playdoh, and a really cool Little People carnival set. He also got a very jazzy saxophone that has enlivened our quiet house. He loves playing and dancing to it.
After dessert (chocolate pear spice cake), we said good night to my family and headed, on icy roads, to Mass. Jack hadn't slept much that day and after all the excitement of the evening, we expected him to be a handful at church, but he was a little angel. He said hi to Jesus, looked at the nativity, clapped for the choir after every song, and shook hands with everyone during the sign of Peace. It was a beautiful end to a beautiful day.
