Womb with a view

Today we went in for an ultrasound to check out how Jackson was positioned. As you can see from this profile shot, he's looking fine. His head is heading down (which is what we want) and he's basically facing toward Christine's left. He also appeared to be playing with his toes a bit. His rump is basically pointing up and his legs are positioned along Christine's left side, which explains why she's been feeling lots of kicks over there. We assumed that his butt was what he'd been pushing up against Christine's rib cage for sometime, but actually it looks like he's been pushing the placenta up there, which is good because that's where it's supposed to be.
His heartbeat was strong - 141 beats per minute and a diagonal measurement of his head showed his noggin at about 9 centimeters. Plus, we learned that his current weight is 6 pounds, 12 ounces, so he's looking to be a pretty good-sized kid. Christine's got a doctor's appointment Thursday so we'll get more details then, but so far things are still looking great.
