Visit With Uncle Bobby

Today we drove to Clarkston to visit Uncle Bobby at the Columbiere Center. We arrived a little early, so Jack and I took a short walk around the grounds, while Ben finished his nap in the car with Brian. Jack and I took turns taking pictures of each other with the statue of Jesus. He's actually becoming a decent photographer now that he's learning to point the camera in the right direction. ;-)

Uncle Bobby seemed to be feeling much better and was delighted to see both boys. Ben slept through much of the visit, but Jack enjoyed seeing the fish and birds, eating ice cream, and even insisted on seeing Uncle Bobby's room. Jack was really excited about the visit, and he loved Uncle Bobby's sense of humor.

After our visit, we had dinner at Union Woodshop in downtown Clarkston, a woodfired barbeque place famous for their mac and cheese. It's reputation didn't disappoint. Brian had an amazing plate of barbequed meat -- chicken, pulled pork, and baby back ribs -- enough to give him the meat sweats! Jack had a house-made hotdog, and I had a black bean, sweet potato and pulled pork burrito. Amazing. Ben was not able to partake in the delicious food, but we joked that he had the lamb because he chewed on his new stuffed lamb binky holder, and he enjoyed playing with the butcher paper on the tables. (Notice his pursed lips as he plays -- his upper teeth are bothering him a lot right now, so we often don't see his upper lip anymore because he keeps it tucked in.)

On the way home, we ended up having to get off the highway so I could nurse Ben at a Park & Ride in the middle of nowhere because he was crying so hard, but Ben was absolutely fat, happy, and satisfied afterward, as evidenced by the photos of him in the driver's seat of the Explorer.
